This is $2 find from a few days ago at a thrift store in Saugus, Massachusetts! And while there is no mark on this hand-thrown mirror black glazed earthenware vase, I suspect it may have been made at the Paul Revere Pottery in Brighton, Massachusetts after 1915.
This vase may have also originally had a paper label adhered to the bottom, which is the case with a number of objects that were made in Brighton that were not stamped or otherwise marked in another way. Furthermore, based on where we found this object just to the north of Boston, then it would not have traveled very far, either.
I also suspect this vase made its way to the thrift store by way of a local home, and interesting, I have been visiting this thrift store once a week probably for the past six months, and I have found that there is a lot of material in this store that is donated from local homes that date from the 1900-1950 period.
Are there any ideas about the origin of this object?
