Saturday Evening Girls Vase Found in a Thrift Store in Southern Maine

I took my dog for a hike in southern Maine a few weeks ago, and on our way back, we stopped into a thrift or collectible type store in the area, where I happened to find a very good seventeenth century German stoneware bottle late last year. 

Nonetheless, this time I was surprised to find this early twentieth century hand-thrown turquoise glazed stoneware vase, whereas it was made by the Saturday Evening Girls at the Paul Revere Pottery in Boston's North End neighborhood, circa 1910-1925. The color of the glaze is outstanding! The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall.

There's a lot more to the story of this business, but for a brief history: The Saturday Evening Girls Club (1899-1969) was a Progressive Era reading group for young immigrant women in Boston's North End. The club hosted educational discussions and lectures as well as social events, published a newspaper called the S. E. G. News, and operated the acclaimed Paul Revere Pottery.
