This outstanding nineteenth century cobalt decorated stoneware sugar bowl sold earlier this week at Bruneau & Company Auctioneers in Cranston, Rhode Island. This bowl along with 84 other objects in the sale had been deaccessioned from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence and sold in the auction.
Furthermore, I am not positive where this sugar bowl was made, but it seems to be a form that was most popular with stoneware potters in the Mid-Atlantic region. Nonetheless, there were a group of bidders who tried to buy it before it finally sold for $7,250 plus the auction premium.
