An Interesting Look at Partially Glazed Sherds Found at the Site of the Merrimac Pottery Company in Newburyport, Massachusetts, Circa 1897-1908

I have preciously written about the artifacts collected at the site of the Merrimac Pottery Company in Newburyport, Massachusetts, circa 1897-1908. However, I would also like to show some interesting sherds that are colorfully glazed, but only on the interior; whereas, the exterior was left unglazed. I suspect these sherds are the remains of utilitarian gardens ware, such as flower pots and garden urns.

The style that these sherds were manufactured remind me of utilitartian red earthenware crocks and pots with only an interior glaze, which were made by New England potters in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
