This is an 1880s trade card that I just acquired from Lawrence's business, which clearly advertises "antique pottery." This was also the period that Lawrence regularly advertised his Grecian style pottery in local papers and publications. The ads are great, and for each year in the 1880s and early 1890s, a new ad was designed.
I show a group of these ads in a feature story that I have written exclusively about the Grecian style pottery production from the C.A. Lawrence Pottery, which I hope will be published sometime next year in the New England Antiques Journal. Nonetheless, this trade card demonstrates the idea behind some of these ads, many of which are also owned today by the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
