A Slip-Decorated Red Earthenware Plate Found Today While Visiting the Antique Shows in Brimfield, Massachusetts

This is a mysterious slip-decorated red earthenware plate that I discovered while visiting the antique shows in Brimfield, Massachusetts today. The plate does reveal a good amount of wear and use, but the colors are also basically an exact match to the wonderful earthenware jug I purchased from the Janis Blouin Collection a few weeks ago that was sold by John McInnis in Exeter, New Hampshire.

The jug was found more than 40 years ago at Ginny's Flea Market in Rowley, Massachusetts, which is a short distance from where I believe it was made in Essex County, Massachusetts.

However the plate is a little more mysterious, especially considering the back has been inscribed "B-O-of-C." Interestingly, the "f" on the "of" appears like a cross. Nevertheless, it would be great to learn if anyone reading this knows how to interpret this inscription. Could it be a date or maybe even religious? I also wondered if the inscription could somehow be related to the Knights of Columbus.

For what it is worth, the dealer also told me that it was found locally in Massachusetts.
