John Wine's Collection of Thousands of Negatives of Pictures of Pottery Found and Purchased in Ontario

Recently discovered in the estate of longtime Ontario collector John Wine is this amazing collection of thousands of negatives of photographs of pieces of pottery he collected and discovered through the years. A lot of this relates to Ontario pottery, although, I am hopeful that I will be able to share some of this information on this website in the near future.

You may recall that I wrote about much of John Wine's collection when it sold through Miller & Miller Auctions in New Hamburg, Ontario in February 2020. I actually purchased an excellent nineteenth  century green glazed earthenware jar in that sale attributed to Simon Thomas Humberstone that was manufactured in North York, Toronto, Ontario.

I'll share more information about these photographs as soon as it becomes available. I think this is a really important collection of negatives, which can ideally document a lot of early Ontario pottery, as well as pottery from other areas, as well. For reference, John Wine did much of his buying and picking in the southern Ontario area in the twentieth century.
