19th Century Red Earthenware Inkwell Recently Discovered in White Plains, New York

I also acquired this nineteenth century American red earthenware inkwell over the weekend, which is very much reminiscent to some nineteenth century glass American inkwells. It was discovered not that long ago in White Plains, New York by Pittsford, Vermont antiques dealer Michael Seward. 

There are some related examples known, one of which sold at a Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates auction in Mount Crawford, Virginia in 2018, and another sold at Crocker Farm in Sparks Maryland in 2015.

This inkwell was manufactured with an attached flange with three quill holders. It is entirely decorated in a mottled lead and manganese glaze. It also survives in excellent condition.
