This is one of my all-time favorite pictures of my niece Alexis surrounded by stoneware! This is most likely the best selection of William Pecker (1757-1820) stoneware assembled since it was originally manufactured in South Amesbury (Merrimacport), Massachusetts in the early 1800s.
For more information - see my fourth book, titled, South Amesbury’s Red Earthenware & Stoneware: The 1791-1820 William Pecker Pottery: https://historicbeverly.net/product/south-amesburys-red-earthenware-stoneware-production/Also see an article published in the 2004 issue of Ceramics In America, as well as a feature story that I wrote for the April 23, 2023 issue of Antiques And The Arts Weekly, titled, William Pecker: A Massachusetts Red Earthenware & New York City Stoneware Potter, along with another feature story I wrote for the August 2015 issue of the New England Antiques Journal, titled, William Pecker: A Forgotten Stoneware Potter From Merrimacport, Mass.
Note: Some of this stoneware along with archaeology from the site of the Pecker Pottery was also displayed in an exhibit that I guest curated at the Custom House Maritime Museum in Newburyport, Mass. - here is a link to buy the exhibit catalog: https://www.amazon.com/Potters-Merrimac-Century-England-Ceramics/dp/1694078531/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3IT7BE0XQTV06&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.j-OvF-T05MNF9DnM0gkIbbs0NyO98vIK6I_8WgdLJXA.qHzjpjLd7ULmici6H_yCO9Evqds_3CP3O_u4qfndxHY&dib_tag=se&keywords=potters+merrimac&qid=1721837719&sprefix=potters+merrimac%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-1.
