A Red Earthenware Handled Pot Recently Discovered in Santa Barbara, California

This is a nice late eighteenth or nineteenth century black glazed red earthenware handled pot that was recently discovered in an estate in Santa Barbara, California. The manufacture of the pot suggests to me that it was made in New England, and probably in either coastal Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Vermont. 

Interestingly, the combination of the black exterior glaze with the colorful interior glaze is a style found with wares made in the late eighteenth and nineteenth century throughout coastal Massachusetts, spanning production in Essex County all the way down to Bristol County. But this technique is also regularly found with red earthenware made in the late 1700s and 1800s by the Clark family in New Hampshire, as well as other potters located in the central part of state. And it is even also found with some nineteenth century production in Vermont.
