The proof copy of my forthcoming seventh 569-page book is about to be sent to the printer, titled, From One Town Came Many: The Red Earthenware Industry of Ancient North Yarmouth, Maine, and my publisher is currently working with ideas for the front and back covers. There will be some tweaks to how it looks, but this was sent back to me yesterday, and this is likely how the new book's covers will appear!
Like my previous books, this book will be sold in bookstores all over America, Canada and the U.K., although the primary source of the book will be through the museum and online bookstores of my publisher Historic Beverly in Massachusetts
The book covers eighteenth and nineteenth century red earthenware production throughout the Yarmouth and Portland, Maine area, as well as includes information about some potters in Essex County, Massachusetts, Exeter, New Hampshire and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. There will also be some discussion about stoneware made in Portland, along with other areas in Maine.
Furthermore, I worked with museums, archaeology departments and private collectors from all over the country on this book, whereas the book will also include pictures of basically the entirety of Dr. Brian Mills' Collection, which I think is probably the most academic private collection of Maine pottery ever assembled.
Additionally, there is also a section in the book that covers red earthenware production in Vermont, Western New York and Ontario (Canada) because pottery from these areas can sometimes be misinterpreted for red earthenware made in Maine, seeing that there were a lot of similarities in the types of glaze colors that were produced.
