Newburyport, Mass. Pottery Exhibit Featured in the September 20, 2019 Issue of Antiques & the Arts Weekly

Last weekend, I posted a story to this website announcing that the exhibit "Potters on the Merrimac: A Century of New England Ceramics" was now open to the public at the Custom House Maritime Museum in Newburyport, Massachusetts. The exhibit demonstrates pottery production from a variety of businesses in the Newburyport area during the Colonial eighteenth century through the early-1900s. A variety of archaeology is also displayed.

Overall, these are the businesses targeted by the exhibit:

1) Daniel Bayley Pottery Company, ca. 1763-1792
2) William Pecker Pottery, ca. 1791-1820
3) James Chase Pottery, ca. 1820-1849
4) Phineas Chase Pottery, ca. 1849-1890
5) Merrimac Pottery Company, ca. 1897-1908

I am thrilled to announce that this exhibit is the cover story to this week's issue of Antiques & the Arts Weekly with a feature story written by Rick Russack. I also wrote an article for this issue which features the history of local pottery production in the Newburyport area. A number of objects from the exhibit are also illustrated between the two feature stories.
