A 19th Century Advertising Envelope from the Goodwin Bros. Pottery in West Hartford, Connecticut

This is another good example of nineteenth century paperwork that was recently discovered, whereas this advertising envelope is from the Goodwin Bros. Pottery in Elmwood, West Hartford, Connecticut, and it is dated "October 12, 1883." Interestingly, these types of envelopes illustrate some of the products made at this company during this period, and this example shows one of the types of painted red earthenware vases that were made at this business. Furthermore, the envelope was found not far from Hartford, and it is addressed to possibly a retailer or merchant in Lansingburgh, New York.

Nevertheless, I actually posted about this envelope on this website last month, although I finally received it yesterday. These types of envelopes are actually important documentary evidence of this company's production, and aside from the vase illustrated on this example, other envelopes include illustrations of various oil lamps with painted red earthenware bases that were made (and assembled) in West Hartford.
