A 19th Century Pitcher with a Pewter Lid Made at the New England Pottery Company in East Boston, Mass.

While walking around the antique shows in Brimfield, Massachusetts this year, I came across a very interesting piece of late nineteenth century household pottery that was made at the New England Pottery Company in East Boston, Massachusetts. Although, it was not the pottery itself that I found intriguing, but rather the pewter lid that sat atop the pitcher that was made in the 1880s or 1890s. 

Furthermore, seeing this collaboration between a pewter company and the New England Potter Company was not something that I have ever seen before. I had also considered that the lid may have been added by the original owner, however the fact that the pewter lid was attached through a hole that went through the middle of the delicate ceramic handle led me to believe that this was most likely created at the pottery factory.
