A Late 19th Century Red Earthenware Figure of a Lion Previously Owned by Kelly Young

I was very surprised to come across this great late nineteenth century green and orange glazed red earthenware figure of a lion recently, which I believe is most likely from Pennsylvania. I had previously seen it as part of Kelly Young's (1933-2009) collection, who owned a lucrative oil business in Texas. But I had thought this object was entirely molded, however only the base is molded, and the lion is actually hand-sculpted. I think this is a great rare object, and it is unlike most of the other lion figures that I have seen from Pennsylvania that often have more of a folky presence. From my experience - this seems to be an unusual object!
