A Private Collection of North Carolina Pottery Acquired Yesterday in New Hampshire

A friend of mine New Hamsphire antiques dealer and collector Mark Newton acquired a decent size collection of twentieth century North Carolina pottery over the last five to ten years, much of which was found in various contexts in central and northern New England. However, that collection was put in storage sometime ago, and yesterday I worked out a deal to acquire pretty much all of it. The only three pieces left behind was a small unmarked black glazed jug, a small colorful glazed earthenware jar with its original lid and a white glazed jug marked on the base "Jugtown Ware."

Without getting into the specifics of each piece - here is the entire collection; a number of pieces are stamped on the base with various marks, although among my favorite objects are the two good chrome red ancient formed earthenware vases, which date anywhere from the 1920s-1940s period. Overall, though, there are twenty-seven pieces here, and the glazes are spectacular!
