In all, the historical society owns sixty pieces of pottery made at the Paige Pottery that were purchased brand-new, which at the time were used as accent pieces to compliment the Topsfield Historical Society's antiques collection. But more than one hundred years later now, this is a major aspect of the museum's collection, which is virtually unknown today.
Nevertheless, I would like to announce that a sequel to my book, The Beverly Pottery: The Wares of Charles A. Lawrence is being published by Historic Beverly, along with a collaboration by the Peabody Historical Society and the Topsfield Historical Society. The new book is titled, The Moses B. Paige Company: The Last of the Peabody Potteries. This is intended to be a two-part series, which took about ten-years of research to complete. The entirety of the Topsfield Historical Society's collection is illustrated in the book, along with more than one hundred other pictures.
I also want to announce that plans are being made to have a book launch event at the Topsfield Historical Society, where their entire collection of Paige Pottery will be on display for view in the Gould Barn on the property of the seventeenth century Parson-Capen House. We are in the process of finalizing a date now, and it may also turn into somewhat of a Paige Pottery workshop, which I encourage people to attend to see this great collection.
