Found Today in Central Massachusetts: A Red Earthenware Jar Made at the Moses Paige Pottery in Peabody, Massachusetts

This was an unexpected find earlier today! I found this circa 1876-1930 red earthenware jar sitting in a shop in central Massachusetts; the jar with its original lid was made at the Moses Paige Pottery (1846/47-1941) in Peabody, Massachusetts. It survives in basically as-made condition, whereas I do not think it was ever really used. This is a really cool find! 

This jar is also directly related to objects made at the Paige Pottery owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Two of those objects are pitchers, and they retain the same type of shaped lid as seen on this jar.
