An Early 19th Century Thomas Commeraw Stoneware Jar from Manhattan Sells in Virginia

A good selection of nineteenth century stoneware made in Petersburg, Virginia sold yesterday at Victoria Auction in Victoria, Virginia, although there was a number of the repairs including both handles being replaced, as well as a portion of the base, the highlight of the stoneware was likely an early nineteenth century jar with stamped swag and tassel decoration, which was highlighted with cobalt. One side of the jar was marked "COMMERAWS STONEWARE," while the other side was marked "CORLEARS HOOK." The jar sold for $900; there is no buyer's premium at this auction.
