Nineteenth Century Red Earthenware Dog from Pennsylvania

A few weeks ago, Antiques & Auction News published a research story I wrote in the August 21, 2020 issue, titled, "A Look At 19th-Century Red Earthenware Figures Made in Pennsylvania," and while visiting Robesonia, Pennsylvania antiques dealer Greg Kramer earlier this week, I decided to purchase this nineteenth century red earthenware dog from his massive inventory. The base is damaged which I plan on having repaired at some point, although, many of these type of existing figures did sustain some damage because of how they were used through the years. Overall, though, I thought this was a nice example! A similar dog can be found in the collection of Winterthur Museum in Delaware.
