Wisconsin is an area that is completely overlooked today outside of the Midwest for its nineteenth century red earthenware production; in fact, there is pottery that I have seen in recent years attributed to New England and even the Mid Atlantic region that was actually manufactured in Wisconsin.
I recently noticed that the Wisconsin Decorative Arts Database posted a great selection of locally made (red) earthenware to its website; the organization is a collaboration of the Chipstone Foundation, the Wisconsin Historical Society, and the Material Culture Program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
These are three of the great examples of Wisconsin made red earthenware that can be found posted on the website; all you have to do is search "earthenware" in the advanced search box and pages of results will appear.
