A Great 19th Century Western New York Red Earthenware Jar Recently Found in a Thrift Store in Los Angeles

Last week, I posted an article about a nineteenth century slip-decorated red earthenware jar from western New York that I had just acquired from an antiques picker in southern California; whereas, I have since learned that this jar was actually just discovered inside a thrift shop in Los Angeles.

The only other object that I am aware of today, which is comparable to this object is a similar formed slip-decorated jar that sold a few years back at Crocker Farm in Maryland. Although, this jar is actually a few inches taller.

Nonetheless, this wonderful jar arrived in the mail today, and I thought I would post some pictures to show some better images for how it appears. It's really a remarkable piece of pottery, which appears to have been originally wheel-thrown in two-halves and then joined at the center. It's amazing that this object has survived in this condition.
