The following lots were pretty-much described generically, and they were also given very-low estimates; however, prospective bidders obviously took notice as each lot brought what it should have achieved if the objects were described correctly.
For example, lot number 60164 (see below) was described as nine pieces of flint enamel pottery, but there were actually three wonderful examples of polychrome-decorated red earthenware that were likely made in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. The forms included two beautiful vases and a covered bowl.
Lot number 60165 (see below) included a very-rare covered earthenware dish made by John Bell in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, circa 1860.
