An Excellent Slip Decorated Red Earthenware Flowerpot Made by Edward Singer (1850-1909) in 1884 in Haycock Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania

To add to the post from yesterday about my latest feature story published in the October 10, 2025 issue of Antiques & Auction News, titled, The Singer Family Pottery Of Haycock Township, Bucks County, Pa.: A Brief Examination Of Simon Singer's Slip-Script Redware -- this is an outstanding late nineteenth century red earthenware flowerpot made by Edward Singer in 1884 in Haycock Township.

This flowerpot is in the personal collection of Randy Bohn in Pennsylvania, although it recently sold at Crocker Farm in Maryland. The pot was made by Edward Singer (1850-1909); it is heavily decorated with three colors of slip and adorned with sprig molds The base is inscribed "Made by / Edward Singer / Applebachville / March 20 / 1884." The fllowerpot is also dated in slip "1884."

Crocker Farm added in their description: "...decorated on the front and reverse with sprig-molded and applied medallions depicting opposing tulip blossoms within an oval border, further surrounded by scrolled foliate devices flanked by acanthus leaves. Sides of flowerpot decorated with sprigged and vertically-applied designs dogwood blossoms surrounding by scrollwork."
