Two recent discoveries! This is a really good nineteenth century red earthenware jug and jar that I suspect are possibly from Vermont, which were just discovered in an estate in the San Jose, California area. The jar also retains an old carved wooden lid that was probably made after the original pottery lid broke. Both pieces survive in great condition! Although, these objects also share similarities with wares made in Ontario and New York.
Note: These jars were originally found decades ago in Vermont by Vermont antiques dealers Michael and Lucinda Seward.
