These wares represent production from the Nathaniel Seymour and the Thomas O'Hara Goodwin potteries in West Hartford, Connecticut. While Seymour's business is widely known today for its wonderful slip decoration, both businesses can be overlooked for the type of wares that were produced adorned with other styles of glazes.
Below I have posted a dramatic large slip decorated red earthenware jar from the Seymour pottery, as well as another example of slip decoration from Seymour, but I have also posted three jars attributed to the Goodwin Pottery from the early 1800s.
